Hi there,
this vitesse has been recenly fitted with--recon. coil, recon.carbs, recon distr. & new leads & plugs, but will not start
there is a spark at the dist. but no spark when i hold the plug near the engine block & fire the engine
all advice welcome

One step at a time then. If there's a spark at the dizzy then so far so good, it's getting from the coil but - it's not getting any further. There are a number of dodgy rotor arms on the go, so make sure both the arm and the cap are good with no cracks wear or other damage to the terminals especially the centre electrode. It can't be leads as there's bound to be ONE sparking out of all six? I'd suspect the cap and failing that, the rotor arm.

Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.

Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.

It could be something as simple as the condenser in the distributor! Had that with a Herald about 40+ years ago and it took ages to find the problem (but I was 16 then!)
