Re: V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1
It can sometimes cause problems. My Dolomite hasn't been used since June and I started it up last week without too much trouble. I'll be adding some more before I attempt another start up (only because the tank's nearly empty!).
Any further progress? How about fitting a Voyager fuel pump then you'll know it is correct for the engine. That's assuming it'll mate up with the Neon.

Sorry about no updates, I've been snipped on ebay when bidding for oil cooler
radiators for the past week!
As a temporary measure, I've got a second hand Transmission cooler off a later
model Voyager coming. I know it is far too big and will just be placed behind
the coolant rad.

It will be here in a day or two, so I can get the bad old BMW one out and try
and get to starting the car up or finding out why she won't! It will then give me
some time, to find a more suitable oil cooler rad. I want to get the temporary
one in before the weather changes and it gets too wet. I don't want the moisture
getting into the transmission!

Re: V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1
The second hand Voyager oil cooler radiator arrived a couple of days ago.
However I screwed it up when trying to remove the brass hose grips om it!
I neglected to put the block part of the radiator into vise.

I have another oil cooler radiator coming from the USA off ebay. This one is
10 X 15 inches, this will be a nice tight fit fitting between the upper and
lower tanks of the coolant radiator i hope!
The last info I have for the tracking number is:
First-Class Package International Service
Depart USPS Sort Facility
September 12, 2013
INDIANAPOLIS, IN 4624
I have no idea where it is now or how long it will be before it gets here!

Re: V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1
The oil cooler radiator was taken to the sorting office and had to be collected.
So after getting back in mothers volvo I opened the packaging to check on it!
Guess what, Parcel Farce strikes again!! :ireful: (Parcel Farce = Parcel Force)
With past problems from them I didn't bother complaining as I would be better
doing a Shirley Valentine and talking to the wall! (good film that)
So I headed off to a place that I know that deals with and makes pipes and
hoses for hydraulic stuff. I have only been to Northern Hose & Hydraulics once
before, which was for the fuel rail connections, but the gentleman remembered
me. (Is that a good thing, I have no idea hopefully it was! and for good reasons)
The gentleman tried but couldn't help me with the problem but pointed me in
the direction of another company who deal with metal fabrications and hydraulics.
T.A. Flavell & Son Ltd of Thornaby.(http://www.taflavell.co.uk/contact.html)
Rather than have the radiator so it can have the compression fittings used to
adapt the connections to take the smaller diameter hose. Those compression
fittings would make it thicker and harder to place the radiator where it needs too,
also making it more likely for the pipe holding the fittings to get damaged again
(this time be me rather than parcel farce!)
As new pipe needs to be aluminum welded to the radiator to make the radiator
useable for any scenario, Flavell's will fit pipe with the correct final size, so I can
just push the hose on and use a jubilee clip.
Flavell's will call me when it's ready, I have said to the chap there
"there is no hurry for it, so do it when you can"
One of the reasons being as the weather forecast isn't good to be working on the car.

Put simply, there is no point buying a used oil cooler. Universal ones are so cheap that it has to be a better bet for a non-standard job like this
Re: V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1
Richard this replacement oil cooler that is now in getting repaired is a universal
oil cooler radiator, which was bought cheaply and is cheaper to get repaired than
fart on looking for another the same size. It is also the biggest and thin at the
same time which is hard to find too. That way I don't have to waste time modifying
the brackets which mount the oil cooler onto the back of the main radiator.

Re: V6 into a RHD Chrysler Neon mk1(SHE LIVES!!! only just!)
To get ready for the replacement oil cooler I removed the old one, and fitted
a bit of pipe I bought during the week. The pipe is to stop the transmission
unloading it's vital fluids all over the drive while I wait for the oil cooler.
I then started back on the wiring and found a couple of blatant fails I caused
most likely when having a serious colour blindness day!
I temparally connected the switched live feed to the ecu to direct power and
tried he! The Voyager ecu is out/to bin/unuseable/waste of space, the intrepid
ecu is what is being used. I just forgot to disconnect the lead attached to the
voyage ecu case so thats what you see me removing!

There is a leak in the pipe connection on the top of the power steering pump, so
that is another little thing to fix!

As the car hasn't moved under her own power for a while(about 3 years) wheel
bearings and brakes need freeing up a little as she as like me when I'm left in
one place for too long, stiff and hard to get going! Also as the leak on the power
steering with just moving her the screatching in the last video is from that!

A GOOD 20min later and she sounds a little sweeter. But when I left her and came
back after leaving her to cool down for a good few hours she was rough. I guess
that is down to spraying the penitrating oil directly into the cylinders and
removing the lubrication that had probably built up over the years!

Congratulations! You have cleared the biggest hurdle. Now it is just the many other details. Have you considered putting the car in for the MoT to see what it needs to pass? Did you declare the engine change to the DVLA? If you have a receipt for the engine you should be fine. I was aware of this when I sold the engine out of one of my Acclaims so I gave the buyer a receipt which had my name and (then) address along with the registration number and the VIN of the car it came out of.

Toledo Your question "Did you declare the engine change to the DVLA?" and ALL
that goes with it. The Log Book was changed with all the relevant documentation and
checked by the DVLA counter staff, when I submited it at the DVLA office in
Stockton-On-Tees (hope I'm reading the date code correctly off the v5) back in
December 2011. And the Insurance company already have the details too, as the car
has been insured FULLY comp with the engine and transmission swap for some time.
Yes it has been a drain on my tiny finances, but I have built my no claims back up,
and the car has always been covered for whenever she is finished and taken to get
MOT'd, or if the worst happened! (I'm sure I did say this somewhere in the thread)
I did have a go at the leak on the pipes to the power steering pump today!

I got a smell from the fluid that wasn't right as though it had been cooked! So
with a bit of clean pipe which I used as a pipet I removed the oil that was visible
in the top of the pump. All I can say is Yuck! and that is supposed to be red.

After it had started to get dark I went back to the car to check on the lights, so
much better at dusk than in the brightness of the mid day sun. looks like a
number plate bulb that needs replacing. Rear side lights okay.

Rear fog lights look like they are shining into the indicator sections of the rear
lights, I hope that isn't an MOT failure even though it wasn't the last time she
had a test 4 years ago!

Front side lights and front fog lights ar okay but that led bulb in the drivers side
light looks wrong, another one to change over later. The head lights work but
aren't correctly aligned as they have been on and off the car a few times
(something for the garage to do when they do the test!)

The indicators will be checked, when I have another go at sorting the reverse
lights out. Although not a legal requirement, I still want them to work again.
After the leak was sorted and some fresh oil was added to the power steering,
she was started up again. She was easier to start along with sounding a lot
sweater. Yesterday I had to rev the engine to push her to move as she had seized
up a bit, today she eased a bit more and when I put her into drive taking my foot
off the brake she moved off without me touching the gas. She went forward and
backwards on and off the pit without me touching the gas, she is slowly waking up!
HOWEVER!! the power steering pump is shot it was screaming like a banshee after
the car had been running for 5 minutes. There is a spare pump in the shed, but it
has been sat for about 4 years so I have no idea if that if fecked as well!
I will be trying to sort the power steering pump out tomorrow. The car is back
on the pit so I don't leave an oil slick on the drive. The oil cooler radiator should
be ready some time during the week.
That little devise that takes a little power from each of the ignition coils caused a
bit of a problem. It's supposed to send a signal to the instrument cluster, instead it
was burning the circuit board! So all the movement and starting the car up yesterday
and today was without the instrument cluster then with but without the rev counter
working. The speedo works, it was getting off bottom of the dial when she was going
off the pit. Temperature gauge is not working, it might be a lose connection or another
of my screw-ups? Fuel gauge is working, and I need to get so more petrol for the old
girl.
The camber on the back wheels needs doing as they re at different angles Doh!
But most importantly I need to bolt the drivers seat back down, BEFORE I take her for
a spin around the garden again! (yes it was a little hair raising the last time when I got
down the bottom of the garden!)
Sorry for rambling, but now you know roughly whats ahead of me!
