Hi I am replacing lower 3" of my beetle doors and wondered if it was better to joggle or butt weld the joints. My main concern was not warping the door skins.
Cheers
butt or joggled welding?
Re: butt or joggled welding?
You'll stand less chance of a) warping and b) blowing holes if you joddle them - I know I would!

I'm sure you've thought of this, but just thought I'd mention it, I'd advise making the joddled lip so that it faces downwards inside the door, otherwise it will tend to trap water running down the inside face of the door. Seam seal it too, but belt-and-braces and all that.

Re: butt or joggled welding?
Thanks for replies folks. Yes I have gone the way of the plug weld as you all suggested. I did have a little go at both on a test piece and it was the neatest joint. I did face it upwards however on the door as it was easier to clamp the joddler in the vice and get it nice and even rather than fighting with the curved door. Plenty of seam sealer to follow though
Then POR paint.
Thanks
