Hi, I am in the process of upgrading my 1971 Mk1V 1300 non O/D Spitty to a 1500 with O/D.
It will be a 'bits n pieces' build in that I have obtained the 1500 lump from a 1980 dolomite, the gearbox with J type O/D from another 1500 dolomite and the HS4 carbs from a Midget!
My specific issues requiring techy input are;
1) I'm missing an inlet manifold for the HS4's - can I only use one from a 1500 spit or will anything else interchange? (I assume my one on the 1300 is no use?)
2) Some muppet attached a 20 spline input shaft from a Marina (!) to the gearbox. Do I need to replace this, or can I get away with a different clutch plate?
3) I need to fit a new dizzy to the block - I'm interested in your views on the electronic 'accuspark' type set-up vs a traditonal Lucas version (clearly originality is not an issue for me!!)
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Wotsie.
Spitty upgrade issues
Re: Spitty upgrade issues
as far as I know (and I don't know that far...) you can use 1300 inlet manifold. 1500 gearbox was also used by the Marina, so it may have started off in one?
