I've just MOT'd my SD1 for the first time since 1/9/09.Since then it has been on SORN.I've tried to tax it on-line but when I enter the 11 digit document reference number,it says "vehicle details could not be found."
Different opinions ranging from unable to tax a car on-line that is on SORN,can't do it with a blue V5C,you need a red one being just two comments.
If anyone can shed any light on this,be much appreciated.

Re: Car tax
I'm afraid that you can't tax a vehicle online with a blue V5C. You should have been sent a new red one automatically. As you still have the blue one you can swap it for a red one with the DVLA: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/dvla ... ertificate
OR if they kick up a fuss (as it has been quite a while since they did the swap) you may need to fill out a V62: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration ... c-log-book
The Blue V5C documents have all been cancelled after a large number of blank ones were stolen.

Re: Car tax
Thanks for the reply Terry.I've managed to tax the vehicle this morning at the post office and a new V5C will be sent out.

Sorted
Talking to someone face to face can normally sort out any issues. It's a shame the DVLA didn't remember that when they closed all their offices.
