bedford ca springs
Hello all I have a 1962 Bedford CA romany that needs a new set of front coil springs, they are proving hard to find does anybody know if the later springs from a CF will fit as these are relatively easy to come by or failing that if anything from a 60's Vauxhall may fit?
Re: bedford ca springs
The following may be of no help whatsoever (and shouldn't be relied on)......But..... Years ago (about 40) I used to drive a CA fitted with a Cresta six-pot, which needless to say was a lot heavier than the original lump, causing the front end to be really low, a proper "Downhill Racer", and I'm sure I remember fitting Cresta front springs in a effort to raise it up a bit. It didn't work..... Luckily enough as it had a tow crane on the back the front end used to come up to a normal height when it had a car swinging on the hook.

You lucky, lucky person!fordfan wrote:I have a 1962 Bedford CA romany

Jonas Woodhead Springs down in Dunston (Tyne & Wear, just by the Metro Centre) would be my first port of call. They can make up anything for which they still hold the spec sheet. The kitten register gets its springs made by them and their prices are very reasonable. No guarantees as the last time I had coils from them was 1993 but we have had trap springs much more recently so even if the formers for these coils are sat gathering dust, they'd make up small quantities if they have the pattern. I've bought pairs of various springs from them before, even though their usual orders involve dozens or more.
