Syphoning petrol

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Syphoning petrol

#1 Post by TerryG »

OMG petrol tastes horrible. I have just syphoned my old fuel tank in to the new one and accidentally got a mouthful of the vile stuff. I haven't had to do that sort of thing in years but I don't remember it tasting that bad.
YUCK!

Word of advice for anyone else that has to do the job, spend a couple of quid on a proper syphon rather than using a length of hose.

On the plus side I found 65 litres of petrol in the range rover I had forgotten was in there. SWMBO is happy as she has acquired 25 free litres in to her car as my new tank is much smaller.

A sip of green antifeeze will instantly remove the taste of petrol  Sniffing brake dust will remove the smell too .

How rank? Even worse than their Chilean house reds? That's a shame, their Diesel is very pleasant with a delicate, fruity nose and the gentlest hint of turnip rape about it. Only 94ppl if you buy from their catering department in 5 gallon drums. :P
