I spotted this thread on another "Popular" car Forum. I thought it was a great Idea so Ive stolen it and put it here.
Is there anything, not necessarily car related, that given the free time and not restricted financially you would love to do?
For me, if money and time was no object, apart from having to buy a large barn to store the 40 or so classic cars I would need to have, I would like to do a road trip round the USA in one of those huge sixties yank tanks that bounce up and down for 15 minutes after stopping abruptly.
I would start in new York and buy a suitable car. Drive it down to florida, then across to California. Take in some beeches and theme parts at both location, before driving up to Philidelphia and back to New York. Depending on how much I liked the car, I would then sell it or ship it back to the UK with me.
I would eat in Diners and stay in Motels whilst on the road but stop in posh hotels in the major cities that I'd like to visit along the way. Cities like Detroit, Seatle, Houston, Chicago, Boston, Washington, Vagos etc. (Not necessarily in this order! )
I don't know which 60's Yank Tank though as my knowledge of US cars is worse than my knowledge of US geagraphy!
Suggestions with photo's gratefully received along with what you want to do most.

Hi Mike spot on every word. Which classic to take?, it either has to be a '64 Galaxie 500 Sunliner in metalic Surf Blue with matching interior or a White '69 Dodge Challenger R/T and pretend to be Kowalski. (Watch out for the CAT bulldozers.) Yes I know the Sunliner is a Ford but they look the 'Mutts Nuts' and loads of room. The Challenger R/T because.....it's a Dodge no other reason required. Get yourself a curly haired wig and and a pair of Aviator shades and rumble through a sleepy backwoods town. Oh yes!
On second thoughts stuff the Ford.
I suppose you could have a butterfly tail Impala but it's a dog pie Chevy. Ugh.
I watched 'Dirty Mary Crazy Larry' the other night on the box. Sad ending though. The death of another Charger. Fantastic piece of helicopter flying....no match for a Charger though!

You'll never have any money if you earn a decent living ask any Pimp. Oh...er...I think I've misunderstood what you meant.

Re: What do you want to do most of all?
Thanks for the advise Phil, I do like the Dodge but it looks a bit of a beasty muscle car. Nice as it is, I think I may be tempted to drive far too fast and miss the scenery and incur the roth of a backwater Sherriff and end up being asked to squealPhil P wrote: Which classic to take?, it either has to be a '64 Galaxie 500 Sunliner in metalic Surf Blue with matching interior or a White '69 Dodge Challenger R/T and pretend to be Kowalski. The Galaxy looks Ideal for a wafty relaxed cruise though, especially the soft top.

Ignoring the car related stuff (restoring a ban find DB6 is never going to happen) I would love to have the time to dedicate to learning to play the Guitar properly. The odd hour here and there I spend at the moment is getting me nowhere. After that I would love to learn the piano too.
My parents made me learn to play brass and I have less than no interest in it at all.
I have had a road trip across the states before. It was in a modern car and it starts off great but after a couple of weeks, driving gets to be a chore. I would do it again but with more stopping time and in several goes rather than coast to coast in one holiday.

Re: What do you want to do most of all?
I want to flog off all of my skanky HMOs before I'm 51 and pish the entire proceeds up the wall on a stupidly large American-style motorhome, a new build, accessible home on a plot that's currently full of cars and other interesting but ultimately useless crap, a machine shop with a milling machine, my old ex-college screwcutting centre lathe, an Accuratool peg programmable capstan lathe and other things that I'd need to build engines, several Reliant kittens and MK1/MK2 Escort autos to donate their engines and gearboxes so that I can do more of these:

,
one of these:

and finally, one of these, which I'd train to sit outside Mitsuku's window at dead of night and screech loudly. Body armour and gas canisters would be provided in accordance with RSPCA guidelines:

Win the lottery, then build the house that I want to build, cellar, PV, Ground source heat pumps and the like. With a VERY large garage!!! At least 2 would have pits for working under the cars others having lifts etc.
Then how can I put it, Buy lots of rust.
Old cars Italian and English in the main (get the drift on the rust) and set about restoring the cars that I would like to drive (Bond gt 2+2(I know its a Herald but looks so nice), Alfa GTV to name but two).
Bonus being that much of the cost of the welding would be being paid for by the National grid!
