Fuel draining back through in line filter

#1 Post by johnc »

Hi all,
I've fitted an in line filter between the AC mechanical pump and the Weber carb on my Rapier and notice that after a day or so of non use the fuel drains back leaving the filter empty and upon restart the engine needs several seconds turning to refill the filter and hence start.I have fitted a repair kit to the pump with new diaphragm and flow and non return valves.Does anyone have any thoughts as to what may be going on?
Regards
John

If its a plastic filter i would change it, they can leak air back in through the seams, after that you must have a slightly loose pipe clamp.
If your using standard jubilee type clips i would change them for a proper fuel clamp as jubilee clips often don't tighten in perfect circle leaving an air gap.
