Lets talk roof racks

#1 Post by Mitsuru »

Okay this topic was started over on the neons.org website.

Here is the typical factory option fit Dodge/Chrysler Neon Roof Rack/Bars.
(which needs holes drilled into the roof)

Here is what one looks like fitted

But a person who is on the thread raised a question on roof rack styling
which got me thinking. As fewer good quality old style roof racks are
available for cars (that don't cost a fortune) How many have had old ones
adapted, or even custom made?
(This could be for modern or classic vehicles)

How many would fit a modern roof rack to a classic car?

But some would fit a classic style roof rack to a modern vehicle.

I woudn't fit anything permanent, myself. Thule roof bars would be my choice, with the rack fixed to them

I have nice old racks for use on my old cars when required; if I got a rack for my less-old gutterless car, it would have to be of the appropriate style because trying to fit anything else would likely require surgery to the car as well as the rack.
…that's why Allegro will look as good 5 years from now as it does today.
If I was allowed a sigpic, this would be it
