triumph gt6 loss of a cylinder

#1 Post by awbracing »

we have a triumph gt6 mk3.
dose anyone know why we would loose a cylinder (number5) after tuning the carbs, we have checked the following. the commpresion is equal across all 6 cylinders, the rockers are all adjusted correctly, the ignition is fine,
the only thing we found is the dashpot had lost all of its oil after only just being filled 2 days before, we replaced the dashpot but it still wont run on 5, would the oil have got into the cylinder if so would i have to clean the cylinder out.

cheers

Hi, have you tried swopping the spark plugs around to see if it still misses on cyl 5? Plug leads? it may be an air leak, dist cap, rotor, I could go on, but i may favour an air leak around cyl 5, manifold/gasket?, the take off for servo? (if it has one), with engine running try spraying WD40 around the manifold, an increase in speed means you may have an air leak.
Let us know how you get on.
