I know the Maxi 1750HL had a different cam profile to the single-carb 1750 version; I'm currently considering a 1750 lump and twin-carb upgrade for one of my Allegros, so would I benefit/should I budget for a new cam as well?
From memory, balancing the dashpots on my Maxi 1750HL was annoying. I know of at least one Maxi that's had Weber carbs from an MG Maestro 1600 fitted, has anyone tried something similar? What alternative suggestions might people have for something suitable?
Once I have the improved torque, do any different final drive ratios exist to get longer legs/better economy out of the engine? I'm not too worried about off-the-line acceleration, I'm happy to trade for relaxed cruising.

…that's why Allegro will look as good 5 years from now as it does today.
