westie

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Is it an A90 /95 or one of the Farina models. I suspect it will be a conversion, if it's an estate, as I didn't think they did estate in the C Series cars :?:

Yes, it isn't one of these Farina jobbies:

of which you stand to see even fewer.

Bloody hell, that is just crying out for flames up the side and a coffin in the back...

I had a 1955 pre farina A50 a couple of years ago, I like the way farina kept the chrome bonnet intake of the earlier "A" range, otherwise absolutely unrecognisable. A car just made for blasting Gene Vincent out of the speakers..... :)

8-) The younger JPB did that very thing with his Farina Oxford VI and the A60 that followed it as daily cars during the late '80s (saloons both, so not really on-topic here  ). I was working down in Windsor at the time and used to drink in the Donkey House on the towpath just by Eton Bridge. Outside that bar on a Friday and Saturday night, as well as a Sunday lunch session, there'd be a long line of Crestas, Cambridges pre-Farina and Farina bodied, Zodiacs, the occasional "sit up & beg" Anglia or Pop (more akin to what would probably have been driven by young lads back in the days when rock 'n' roll music was more current, since the larger saloons were more your bank manager material then). We always started the juke box off with the Platters' classic "Magic Touch" then gradually worked down the list of tunes - all of them '50s and '60s records - until, just before home time and during our last round of juices (everyone, even if they stayed in Windsor, drove there), someone would inevitably select something Gene Vincent.

This was favourite among my Farinas:

While this would be the most selected Gene Vincent song on the Donkey Houses juke box:

NICE, both the car and the music :)

Must add a tape deck to the list of riley jobs. I took the Yam 600 out yesterday, and whilst its a modern horse I swear those tunes just keep popping in my head whilst moving along. Must be a touch of ton up boy come down the line

Then again, what can you expect from a boy who grew up leering at his dads triton and listening to his latest exploits of speed testing down Leyland Lane :o

Maybe the Bauer carrier pigeon was shot down and eaten somewhere on its way to you with the good news? Blame the natives; they'll eat anything that flies over their airspace.
