my rover 213s joy
My little rover 213s that i saved from the scrap man passed it's mot today first time not even an advisery a real credit to the previous owner of 16 years he loved that car so glad i took the time out to do this project it has made a old man very happy to see his little car fight another day. and i will be proud to show this car off at our classic car meets.

Brilliant stuff, good little cars they were, I had one about five years old when they were still modern, 100,00 on the clock, lived on for close to another 100,000 miles with my aunt and uncle after me without much trouble.
UNLIKE the "proper" rover p6 I replaced it with whose flex plate gave out under slightly spirited motorway acceleration, then got TOWED off by the bloody AA at 50mph with the rear wheels down before promptly throwing its vital gearbox fluids all over the ground when the flex plate was renewed...... then got converted to a manual box as a fix... (for some reason I loved this car only getting rid because as I was getting wed and fuel was getting dear with the gulf war on)
I saw a 213 the other day, first one in a long time, wonder where they all went as they surely didn't rot that much more than anything else of the time. I remember them as being a quite spirited and really rather refined and reliable little car, the bigger british engined 216 hardly any faster, leaking oil and drinking more always seemed a bit pointless in comparison.
Enjoy it

Never see the Acclaim or Rover 213 mk1 here in Ireland any more. there's a couple of Mk2 214's about. Surprisingly there's a few 80's Toyota's about which would have rusted worse than the rovers.
