Hi all,
I wish to improve the fusing on my '64 Rapier from the single glass fuse to a bank of modern blade fuses but cannot find any reference as to what size fuses to fit.The ciruits invloved are (side lights),(stop lights),(wipers),(heater blower),(horns),(overdrive relay). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi there will be someone along with a more defined answer but how about the following.
Stop lamps 2 X 21W ( plus high level?) = 42 devide by 12 (voltage) = nearest number up is 4 so nearest to 4 amp is a 5 amp. Because of the on/off nature then it may be necessary to go to a 10.
Same for side and headlamps add watts and devide by 12 and go up a value.
Horn is difficult because they vary so much in size and demand, at a guess 25 amp.
The same with wipers depends on the size, single blade/double blade wants to be low enough to blow if the blade is frozen to the screen and not high enough to burn the motor out, measure it if you can, same with the heater really how big is it, again measure it if you can.
Well that a start any way.

Fueses are really there to protect the wiring, so a good plan is to look at the wire gauge. You will probably find that 10, 20and 30 amps will cover most applications. It's a good idea to fuse motors so that the fuse blows before the motor burns out, but measuring the running current can be misleading as they take a large surge on starting.

Back again!
I'm still sorting out the fusing and wish to connect 6/8 terminals ignition sourced feed and 1 with battery sourced feed.My problem is finding a suitable box that doesn't involve looping wires from terminal to terminal for the shared feeds,if you see what I mean,it's just a bit untidy.Any ideas where I could obtain a 'distribution' box would be apppreciated.

I used this system in a VW i did once its a very good setup as you can choose what modules to use,also it uses a 'bus bar' so you power is on one wire.

I've had a look at the system you suggest which is great, but unfortunatley the modul housing is too big to fit in the space I have available,max. 120mm x 75mm.
I think my option is to make a buzzbar to fit the terminals on a standard fuse box.
