Apologies if something similar has already appeared.
Like many, I like to listen to music in the car. In fact I like to listen to it whenever possible - one of the advantages of starting work 2 hours before my colleagues.
My own tastes are quite varied, but it was not always so. A heavy metal fan in my teens, my tastes moved on to include punk, ska, reaggie, avant gard, folk and so on and so forth as I grew older.
Currently listening to Classic FM a lot, although recently, my son was born to the strains of Paul Simon and Steely Dan. I still like HM and punk and all the other stuff though.
I guess I was lucky to be born in the early 60's and was able to listen to and appreciate most contemporary styles since the very early days of what we call "rock" and "pop".
Anyroad up. What do you all like to listen to in your cars?
Do you listen to the same stuff in your classic as you do in more modern cars?
Do you listen to different music in the home or at work?
Do you find that the type of classic you drive influences what you listen to when driving it? 50's music in 50's cars, 80's music in 80's cars etc.
In the car I tend to listen to anything that will keep me alert. I have a CD full of mp3's in the player that is mainly rock orientated. Anything from Hendrix through The Clash, Discharge, The Fall and The Cramps, right through to more up to date stuff like The Hives, them there Arctic Monkeys and Technical Itch.
In the CD changer in the back, I keep a few discs of various styles. Neil Young, Steely Dan, Art Blakey, Air, Hawkwind and Dr John at present.
Currently listening to a lot of Half Man Half Biscuit at home (as well as the Classic FM) and Erik Satie, early Tangerine Dream and Can at work.
And The Beatles.
So over to you..............
What music do you listen to?
Re: What music do you listen to?

Really? What, you don't even like this classic piece of the music maker's art?

I'll listen to anything that's performed by people who appear to enjoy what they're doing. Oh, and The Smiths.
Favourite genres are reggae, ska, lovers' rock, dancehall, rocksteady, classic soul, classic R&B, dub, hip-hop and, just to provide some contrast, a bit of ancient prog rock.
Oh, then there's the '70s new wave and anything with silly lyrics which must explain why I also have a HMHB album in my collection. Vinyl mind, none of them thar newfangled compact discs, the needle skips something rotten across those, even with a healthy dose of bias on the arm.

Re: What music do you listen to?
When in the Minx I have limited access to music because the radio is a genuine old medium/long wave thing that takes five minutes to warm up, when it has I listen to ‘absolute radio’
Music wise I tend to like things like Genesis. Fleetwood Mac, ELP, older Queen stuff, older Marillion – misplaced childhood being one of my favourite albums of all time, Mike Oldfield, Focus – Jan Akkerman being one of my favourite guitarists and not forgetting the mighty Floyd. I am very lucky in having some association with Pink Floyd in that when I worked for Audi motorsport a regular visitor was Tony Mason Floyds drummer, as some will know he is a bit of a petrol head and as he used to live nearby often came in to both ‘drink in’ the motorsport ambiance and often to use equipment when working on his own cars. Our paths crossed some years later when the fireworks company I worked alongside of did stage pyro on the UK dates of the Pulse tour – UK H&S meant they could not do their own, this in turn led us to doing two private displays for Dave Gilmour.
Also listen to John Cougar, Don Henley, Bryan Adams, king Crimson etc etc. Each to their own and all that but I tend not to be a fan of soul or motown, reggae R&B etc.
Currently in the modern its Munford and son’s

JPB.
If it's silly lyrics you like then Half Man Half Biscuit are a right gud laff.
If it's embarrassingly silly lyrics and HM you like, might I recomend the "Hail to England" album by Manowar. The music is really rather good, but the lyrics

Today i filled the CD changer with Maroon 5, Counting Crows, The Wanted, Food Fighters, Deep Purple, Semisonic, Eminem, Johnny Cash, Feeder and The Zutons.
I have banned any of the X-Factor performers, kids songs and christmas music from any of my stereos but other than that i listen to most things.

The Contractual Obligation Album wrote:I like Chinese thoughts, the wisdom that Confucius taught. They only come up to your knees, but they're cute and they're cuddly, and ready to please, altogether now....

and not forgetting
Finland, Finland, Finland, it's a good place to be. Pony trekking or hiking, or just watching TV. Finland, Finland, Finland, it's the country for me...
Yep, some all-time classics have come from the Pythons' song catalogue over the years.
Just don't get me started on "Medical Love Song".
