Bodywork tuition

I've searched long and hard for bodywork courses (panel beating, welding etc) in my area (Herts) and have come up with nothing useful.
I'd love to do a Conotour course but can't justify the expense and they're not exactly local.

So I was wondering if a) anyone had course suggestions or b) might know of a resto company in the area that might be persuaded to do a bit of tuition? (A long shot, I know, but you never know )
