Good luck with Rocky, just tell him to use goggles when he's using the angle grinders!

Handsome pup! It's good to see a boxer that hasn't been docked, if only more breeders would let their rudders alone. Much kinder to the dog.

How far from first startup is the Neon? :)

Awaiting the bloody plug coming from a member of the neons.org forum
in the states, as I can't get one or even an engine harness in the UK.
Not unless I want to fork out a fortune for it from a stealer(dealer).

The electrics can be done a bit at a time, and isn't that labour intensive
just getting the stuff out. So I can do bits at a time easier.

But considering what weather we have had and are going to have,
getting the exhaust and tow bar sorted while we have some good
weather and while dad is off to do the welding, is the best way of doing
it! (my brother was off a bit so he kept the dogs a bay while I was under
the car)

If you've not received it by about 25th August(which is when I head back to the middle east) send me a PM with all the details and I'll see if I can fi on in the scrappy back in the UAE where we have a lot of yank cars

you may have an issue when it comes to MOT time!!
Which raises a good question!

What are the rules/regulations for the MOT test regarding how far the tail
end of the exhaust pipe sticks out from the car or the car's bumper?
Relentless Rob of ppcmag forum wrote:There is no clear and definitive answer but the bumper line is the

After checking the website which doesn't say anything, and going off what
Rob has said as well as matt, it's down to the testers discretion really. And
heaven help anyone if he is having a bad day

So I will weight the car as though it had fuel in the tank and a spare wheel,
then it will be out with the plumb line to get the pipe marked

Oh and there are no requirements for it to be pointing down, so wither it's
square or slash cut they can point straight out.

Would you find the exhaust info on the IVA test?

Whats an IVA test?

Well I did do a little on the car today, even if my body wasn't up to it.
I had to remove the bend on the end of the fuel pipe as there was a
problem with it. After that I connected up the hose to the fuel rails.
Making sure all connections had gasket paste used in their construction.

I managed to do a little on the car, after cutting some pipe up to use
as spacers for inside the frame. I used 5 inch long bolts on the left but
ran out for the right. I used thinner bolts to temporarily hold up the
right side. A nice little plate for inside the boot, this is the left, and
there is one for the right.

The car doesn't have the weight on the back end yet but I did pop the
exhaust back box back on.

Mother is popping into Hartlepool tomorrow so will pick up some more of the
correct bolts for me. I'll put some stuff in the boot tomorrow so I can get
the tail pipes on the exhaust marked up. I did notice one of the pipes needs
adjusting as it's slightly out.

I have an idea regarding a winch and how to mount one to a neon.
When I was getting a towing ball/hitch for my neon I got another free,
which came with a plate/mounting platform, that makes use of the pin.

The guy who gave it to me stated that he had a cb Ariel mast which used
compressed air to raise it to 30-40 feet high mounted to it.

Something like this could probably handle a good strong winch couldn't it?
And could easily be removed and stored in the car so someone doesn't hit
it or nick it!

What do you guys think for pulling the car out of the mud at shows or out
of a snow bank in winter?

I'd concentrate on getting it running and roadworthy first. A winch is also only likely to be useful on a much heavier car (eg 4x4).
