Out came the jigsaw this afternoon, and a little more work on the front engine mount.

I made the pieces for extending and adapting the transmission mount.
The 2 main plates will be bolted together so a grinder can be used to get the cures correct,
also so can make sure that the mounts holes are spot on.

I then made a start on the V6 side engine mount, where there was a bolt that went through
the top to hold a bracket. This was cut off and moved to where it will be welded and
photographed.

Yes it still needs a little trimming for the belts etc.
My farther will be doing the welding at the weekend, so I have to get all the parts cut & labelled
what goes where ASAP.

Tomorrow the ancillaries!!
Or if the intake manifold gasket turns up, I will be making a mockup of a new intake manifold.

Dad did a little welding for me.

The transmission mount, just needs three holes for the neons mount.

It's coming on well! I like the pile of chocolate on the table, I assume from your signature that it's not for you. Wages for the welder maybe??!!

Could be to keep sugar levels up - trick my Aunt uses. Although tbh I think she just like us buying her chocolate! :shock: :lol:

The exhaust manifold for some reason spent 48 hours in the air,
then has been on the van for delivery since Thursday of last week.
Bank holidays on friday and monday, you would have thought that
as they delivered post on Saturday they would have delivered it
then?
I hope they will deliver it some time on tuesday!

Wednesday I'm picking up some new copper brake pipe the size,
the use on trucks. This will be used to replace the fuel lines, which
would be better having a bigger bore of pipe for the v6, and due to
the old pipes being the original mild steel ones which need replacing
after dad kinked the pipe and the rot has set in on them.
Plus the front need doing so they get the same increase in pipe,
which is only slightly bigger than the original anyway.
I'm going to do them pipes while the engine is out to make my life
easier.

Guess what arrived ot about 9am

No packing just a fold of cardboard taped at both ends not very secure.
I paid $80 for postage the dispatch/usps labels says it was $62.04
So if an exhaust manifold which isn't light costs $62 how can people justify
well over $100 for a set of headlights or something smaller weighing less.

I placed both Voyager exhaust manifolds lined up on the table outside the
garage, spanners and a pair of wire cutters to prop them up as though bolted
to a flat surface. This is to show how much difference there is between the
positions of the outlets.

I couldn't find a picture showing this on the net, so I did one for comparison
reasons.

I previously stated I might have to tilt the engine to make clearance for the exhaust,
I don't have to now thanks to jimbo pointing me to the right exhaust manifold.
So since the back doesn't need moding, and my engine is 2 inches lower than jimbo's,
can i get away with the exact same intake manifold?
Jimbo's intake manifold doesn't have exhaust gas recycle but that can be installed as
it's not cast iron but it is alloy or aluminium.
The manifolds I have seen aren't as low a profile as Jimbo's unfortunately.

A little more work done on the transmisson mount, holes drilled for receiving the old
neon mount. I have removed part of the side plate that was welded in, so the mount can
slide in to be easily changed.

The picture below shows the untouched side yet, but from the red line to the right of it has
to be removed. Then a few bits of tube for the bolts to co through and give it more strength.

I spent this afternoon going from one company to another to get the fuel rail sorted.
Eventually I came to a company called Northern Hose & Hydraulics in Middlesbrough,
Who cut off the old crimped on hose, the put a compresson fitting on and made up
two flexy pipes so the fuel rail could be connected to the new copper fuel lines to the
tank.

On one both ends of the flexy line has screw type fittings crimped on, so that i can find
the correct attachment to connect to the 1/4 inch copper pipe.
On the second flexy pipe only one end has been crimped with a connector for the fuel
rail end, the other has be left for me to make up that connection how I see fit.

So I have 2 options for the fuel rail. Cost inc tax £20.
I had been phoning around about connectors for the 1/4 inch copper pipe.
Not one person even asked or stated the size in millimetres, 1/4 inch is 6.35 millimetres
or near as dam it 6mm. And nobody does 1/4 inch but ask them if they did 6mm!!!
