I'd be happier buying arceye's Riley than one that Bernie & co have "restored". At least we can see the welding and quality of work that has been done on the Riley - and it isn't trying to be a £30K restored vehicle!

I just about managed to watch the whole programme, despite my massive disliking of that stupid cockney tw*t!

Perhaps you ought to watch out for "Car SOS" on Nat Geo, next year if you'd like to see a take on the realistic recommissioning of classic cars.

Besides that, the cars we're working on belong to real people and could belong to you, or someone you care about.

I, for one, am truly knackered having just completed the fourth car of the series and can assure you that beyond the on-screen fun, should you see me looking stressed, puzzled, ecstatic or gormless, it's likely to be real. But it's bloody great fun to be working on such a variety of cars.

Anyhow, I hope that I've tweaked your beaks.

Best get back to that PC MGB..... I've a few hours before cameras start rolling again.

That reminds me. Back in the late 70s, I was visiting my parents in Kington, Herefordshire when my father asked me to help one of his neighbours, a Mr Kitchin, start his car. The car was a white D reg MGB GT, with a registration number very similar to yours, I can't remember it exactly though. I cleaned and gapped the points and gave it a jump start from the Princess 2200 HLS and Mr K went on his way rejoicing. I can't help wondering if it was the same car, after all it was quite close to your neck of the woods and I'm sure the number started off JKF...

I didn't see the programme but my father watched it and felt it was rather unrealistic, with a touch of Arthur Daley with added bad language. I am reminded of a time when my grandfather went to view a house, that Barry Bucknell has supposedly renovated. He said the workmanship was poor. Like lots of things, it’s about making a TV programme, that most people will want to watch. I suppose if you went too much into the detail, it would go over the heads of many and probably bore them (I heard the other day that 60% of drivers can’t change a wheel and more recently, that some believe the MOT counts as the maintenance for the year…..and yet if you told those same people that some early council house tenants used to put coal in the bath, they would laugh). In this day and age, when so many people like to think of themselves as astute doers of deals, a bit of spivery will go down well.

It's nice to know we'll soon have another decent programme to watch, we've not really had one since the ...is born series
