Dad hasn't done the welding so!!
I cleaned the crap off one neon 14" wheel,
and a VW/Audi/Skoda 16" wheel with the same bolt pattern.
A coat of straight to rust dark green paint similar shade to the car.
See how they dry and then try them on the car.

If your track car is worth less than a grand then why not come along to
Santa Pod on the 16th September to take part in the PPC £999 Challenge? Or
challenge yourself to build the best race car you can - as long at it costs
less than £1k.
For just £50 you can take part in the PPC £999 Challenge - which includes a
morning on the Santa Pod drag strip, an afternoon perfecting a handling
course and a chance to meet and race against PPC Staff & readers.
Now in its fifth year the PPC £999 Challenge has seen a cacophony of cars
enter. Just like the magazine, the event is open to all: we aren't marque
or model specific. Cars range from home-brewed supercharged beasts to
off-the-peg eBay purchases. Previous entrants include a Maseratti Biturbo,
Celica GT4, MX5, BMW 328i, Saab 9000, Skoda Rapid, Reliant Kitten with a
bike engine in it, Pug 106, Scimitar and a Nissan Pulsar Turbo.
The rules are simple – build or buy a car for less than a grand, get it
MoT’d and bring it along to race it. You can sell any excess bits to help
the budget (exchange your trim and bumpers for better tyres and brakes).
And safety items are exempt from the bill, so you can buy harnesses etc
without breaking the budget. You’ll need to fill in a form to show how
much your car is worth and we play by the rules of fair play: if you cheat
the other competitors will take the rip all day and so will we when we
write up the event.

Dad did a little welding tonight after the rain had stopped and it had dried up a bit.
The Rear Engine/transmission mount.
The Front Engine/transmission mount was bolted up before welding.
not only was it a bit more than inch out, but it was at an little further back
for the new bolt hole. So yes it looks a little messy!
It will be trimmed, filled and sprayed to make it look smart/cleaner,
than it looks now!
While I was outside I thought I'd move the steel rims.
I tilted them and drained the water off only to find where the water
had been they were lighter!!!!!!!
Any idea why this has happened?

Emulsion paint is being sold in cans marked
"Geet tough outdoorsy enamel for cars and stuff" at your local B&Q?

The paint hadn't fully cured, and where the water sat, the solvent was not able to escape and the pain may have taken on the moisture. Called blooming.

I have been re-reading a thread on custom gauges
by Steve on neons.org

His version
I have used it as a guide for layout and with gauges etc in scale.
I came up with this layout, just incase I can't get the neon's to work well with the voyager's systems.
However! I will be using old smith gauges off MG/Triumph/Jaguar
(Pictures below are examples of what I have in a box in the back of the tool shed)
This is a mechanical gauge so would need pipes.
If I fitted it I could use one of the other gauge hole for a time piece/clock.
Below is the Canadian version of the instrument panel it would replace
It's a fallback/backup plan I came up with while nothing on tv!
What do you think?

I havn't done anything with the car over the last few days.
There is no way I'm working with an electric grinder in the pouring rain.
And I suffer with mygrains when it builds up to thunder and lightening,
and there have been very heavy thunder storms there has even been
a couple of twisters near here as well as hail!!
Am I in the UK? as these weather reports sound more like the USA!

I thought it best to dad crack on with his discovery and keep out of his way,
and not do anything to mine
So I spent my birthday, sitting on the sofa with the laptop.
The only person (forgetting automated emails from forums) who remember my
birthday is my mother.
How sad/bad is that?
