Bloody moderns

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

I use cable ties occasionally when I have a recently opened packet of choccy hurb nurbs, have only eaten a couple and want to put the "lid" back on, having pulled the red string carefully so allowing myself a good re-closing overlap.
Usually, at least half a pack goes at once, but, when fewer of the deliciously crunchy sweet snacks have been eaten, a rubber band isn't long enough to reach around without causing breakage so out come the longest of my reusable the wraps to hold the lid on and job's a good 'un.

But cable ties as alternator belt substitutes? That's one for Ted Connolly's column!

Me neither, but as I've yet to feel or act on the urge to murder a prostitute, this hasn't been an issue. :|

Mrs Rusty's modern...three bolts, headlamp out, 5 mins at most, back lights? Open little hatch in boot, easy. Ye simple olde Vitesse on the other hand........fronts are sealed beam, but the hassle would be the same if they were bulbs- front headlamp panel off, headlamp mounting bezel off, headlamp finally out. Not too much kerfuffle, but not as straightforward as you'ld expect!

One of my neighbours has an old shape Punto- rear lamps need a special tool......which should be in the toolkit but, as expected, once we found out about it's supposed existence it wasn't there, making the job more or less impossible without breaking something :x
1968 Triumph Vitesse Mk1 2 litre convertible, Junior Miss rusty has a 1989 998cc Mk2 Metro, Mrs Rusty has a modern common rail diesel thing.
