We have progress!!! We've got all the bolts undone so the roof could be removed (as one piece with the rear sides). All the seals needed breaking including the silicone bathroom sealant round the windscreen and wedged it up with some handy bits of wood.


The windscreen has now been taken out and the top of the bulkhead inspected properly... With some vigorous poking and grinding some metal was found on the bulk head!!


That’s about progress leaving the 110 looking like this, before one of the lectures from uni came round to do some measurements for his 110 that’s going from V8 to 200tdi.




Oh and I ordered a load of parts aswell!

I've got quite alot of progress to report since last time, all the welding on the passenger side is done (Thanks BiosBill) and I've now fitted the new galvanized cappings on to the tub. Just a couple of photos as it was dark by the time we finished. First with the roof and sides completely off and the other of the first section of welding partly done. It looks like the Christmas deadline might be a reality

Apologies for the lack of updates, over the past week everything’s suddenly moved, spurred on by deciding to book a MOT, so all the welding's done, the roofs on and the doors are all back where they should be. By the light of a 60W incandescent work light I sorted all the remedial bit yesterday evening (minor things like bolting the roof back on...) The only hiccup is despite everything electrical working when I got it some of the lights decided that they didn't want to work properly...

Anyway to cut a long story short she went to the MOT station this morning and failed! On tail lights, beam alignment and a loose headlamp, all easy fixes that I'll have sorted by the end of the week.

Well I figure it's time for a forum wide update again.

On the Friday after failing the MOT some new rear light units saw me come out with pass. So the 110 got me home for Christmas, with a distinct lack of working heaters or much interior.

Next stop was to replace the PAS box with a 'good' spare that I go very cheaply, it sorted out my issues with play but it also seems to have an appetite for steering fluid, come the summer I'll put in either a new unit or a properly reconditioned one.

After that was sorted I took a trip down to Sailsbury Plain with the LROi/Misfits forums, the standard Range Masters performed very well, and I didn't get stuck at all (which considering the lack of recovery points is probably a good thing).


A few days after this I borrowed a pressure washer so my white paint now looks white rather than green.


Next stop was a trip to Norfolk in which myself and Biosbill came joint second last in a BLRC night time navigational rally.

Back at uni the 110 has just become the daily driver, but I've done a few bits such as getting most of the dash board back in, I've slung some door mats from ALDI in the front, which will do for the moment. And I've installed a car kit for my phone, being a mighty Nokia 3510i it was as cheep to by the proper car kit as it was a car charger.


That brings me about up-todate I think, next stop investigating why the heater blower doesn't do anything, sort out the earthing, new rectifier pack on the alternator, get a CB radio and revamp the stereo!

Update time!

The 110 has taken up the roll of student hack again, however now sporting some new to me doors, a new rectifier pack (but charging issues still persist but no flat batteries), an new fuel tank, wheel bearing, clutch fluid change after complete clutch failure, steering arm straightened out (don’t ask), and that’s about it, CB radio and some recovery points have been fitted, and the 110’s proved ideal in both Yorkshire and Wales. I’ve spent the afternoon painting the cross member, how well the finish will stay I’m not sure but we’ll find out! And now for some pictures:
