Re: payment protection
Don't get mad,get even and put a claim in! The banks have set aside millions for this as they fully expect a flood of claims ,and quite rightly so,if you were self-employed you were miss-sold the cover. I have just written a letter to Barclaycard as a similar thing has happened to me.

Re: payment protection
Martin Lewis, of moneysavingexpert.com, stated (several times) on BBC Watchdog Thursday past that the amount was six billion, I don't know how many zeros that is but it's a few.
Thing is, how does this come about? The exclusions are always visible but he reckoned that many credit providers actually started the insurance without the cardholder's permission, it's that which I think is wrong. That and someone called British Gas signing people up erroneously and at random for a gas supply, then billing for same when in fact gas doesn't come to their home and they have LPG tanks. I let them take that one to court and oh what fun it was!
Lewis also said that the Financial Services Ombudsman service was severely log-jammed and that they'd be taking quite a few years to clear, but that people should use the online pro-forma claim forms and do it for themselves which was working in most cases, apart from GE Money-related claims.

Re: payment protection
Don't need to,write to them and ask them for the information, they have to actively find and compensate anyone who has the right to claim.
