FEAST YOUR EYES.
Some very interesting lots in the H&H 8th of June sale, including a 1961 Turner Mk1 and a 1933 Singer Nine
Pity the search facility doesn't work, I'm sure someone was looking for a Turner not so long ago.

Just cant get over a Mk1 Escort being estimated at more than a healey 3.0 and as much as a testarossa!.

Re: Classic Car Auctions
In fairness, the Escort's top estimate doesn't quite reach the Testicle's lower figure. That said, I remember when those Redheads consistently fetched 6 figures.
Wouldn't mind that 10k-from-new Austin 3-litre…

…that's why Allegro will look as good 5 years from now as it does today.

I just entered "Turner" as a search term and it came up with only the one thread: This one.karlsgazelle wrote:.......Pity the search facility doesn't work, I'm sure someone was looking for a Turner not so long ago.

I'm rather impressed by the condition of that 120 series Volvo, if that were an automatic I so would, ooh yes, I'd be on that like a fly on dung.
And the Escort's hardly a typical MK1 is it? That's the Lotus DNA shoving the estimate up methinks.
"Word on the street" has it that RWD Escorts of the type typically seen in a right old state on eBay at far too much money have had their day and the very tidy, original (2 door as well) MK2 1600 Ghia auto (so comes with the larger tunnel, apparently significant to the rallyists across the water) that just sold through the "general" sale at BCA Benton on Wednesday for a mere £875 with full history and two names on the reg document would tend to support that word.
Maybe they're set to become affordable first cars again, just like they always were a few years ago?

Some nice metal there, though I didn't make enough from the Fergy to have a punt! As JPB says, the Twin Cam Escort has the Lotus appeal (my favourite Escort EVER!). Hmm, the only Escort I liked would be more exact!
I suspect the current financial climate has a lot to do with the values of classics. It's certainly a buyers' market, with plenty of tyre kicking going on! The Fergy would have made £1500 two years ago - before I rubbed it down, resprayed it and put another £550's worth of parts on. It made £1500 earlier this month! Certainly a few on eBay have been relisted more than once and still not got a bid!
I gather my friend's Stag has had an offer or two, way below asking price, and his TVR has had no enquiries at all (though many people watching it!), so perhaps this problem isn't limited to tractors!

And twice as much as the Fiat Dino! That estimate has to be too low, surely?MG Mal wrote:Just cant get over a Mk1 Escort being estimated at more than a healey 3.0 and as much as a testarossa!.
But it's the Lancia Lambda Torpedo that has me drooling - Monte Carlo or Bust!

as much as i love escorts i wouldnt pay that much..
Re: Classic Car Auctions
Most I ever paid for an Escort was £80 per hour. Oh sorry, wrong site.rich. wrote:as much as i love escorts i wouldn't pay that much..
Most I ever gave for a MK1 Ford Escort 2-door saloon was £275, it would have been £300 but the MOT was due up at the end of the same Month. Got it tested the same day and moved it on at £325, was entirely happy at that. Can't see the appeal myself, the Chevette was always the nicer car to drive and had more room.
Yeah, running now.
