Is this too far gone?

Here's the place to chat about all things classic. Also includes a feedback forum where you can communicate directly with the editorial team - don't hold back, they'd love to know what they're doing right (or wrong of course!)

I have "The Best 4x4xFar" (it was on the car when i got it) and a Practical Classics one.
I need a rear x-member done on the daily as it is full of holes! I was surprised that Richards don't do RRC / Disco chassis replacements.
at Beaulieu yesterday there were enough Defender parts to build several cars but other than a roof pannel and some seats there were no RRC / Disco parts at all. It seems the LR comunity are most interested in Defenders. There was a beautifully restored '71 RRC at £11,500 in sandglow which looked better than new

If there was less rot over the rest of the car i would have been more interested. I can see how you would repair a chassis as it is "square" with flat sides, the bottom of an A pillar is curved in 2 directions. I have no idea (other than a load of filler and lots of sanding) how to make that reasnoble.
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

At risk of hijacking the thread - and here's a link to another cheap ish 2 door Range Rover, just to justify this post :) - I might well be after a Series II or IIA soon. I've got to sell my Ami first, but with luck I'll have about two grand to play with. Anything scruffy but sound (ish) is ideal, preferably with the 2.5 diesel and a full canvas tilt. Whereabouts in Bristol is your cousin?

I think there's a repair panel made for this bit. Seem to remember when I was looking at a RRC that lots of them go there.

Sorry Rich, i didn't see this until RT quoted it.
I keep my collection of rust near Uttoxeter (on the Staffs / Derbyshire border).
I would say i'm not actively looking for one but if one appeared that was a good deal i would take it up.

Makes me nostalgic for my old one. Gloss white roof and wheels, with satin black body.
Painted it on the drive with rattle cans on the day of Dianas funeral. Was great. Almost everyone stayed inside, so no cars kicking up dust, and no one walking by to complain!
