Here's the place to chat about all things classic. Also includes a feedback forum where you can communicate directly with the editorial team - don't hold back, they'd love to know what they're doing right (or wrong of course!)

If you find yourself in London you can probably blag a lift with someone. I'll have 3 empty seats in the back (probably one in the front too as the other half will have no interest)
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.
Rich; there's nothing to prevent your being the man to create a similar type of event in France.
After all, awareness of this odd hobby of ours surely needs to be raised beyond the confines of the UK?
OK, so London - Brighton has an historical significance as a journey, but surely there's something that could entice the good folk of France to come out & play in their old motors once in a while.
J "Home is where you park it", so the saying goes. That may yet come true..

If the cost of appearing / use of Mederia Drive in Brighton is prohibitive - whats stopping the run going along Brighton seafront and terminating at a suitable point ? could be a car park / suitable pub / resturant venue on the outskirts of Brighton ? The mods scooter (1,000's of them) meeting at Scarborough does not involve the council at all - they just arrange what day they are going to do it and get on with it - I realise I am aproaching it in a simplistic manner - but then again from experiance it is the best way to organise such an event.
With you on that one mate, as I see it why should we pay to do a run on a public road even if not paying road tax were sure paying fuel tax so have as much right to be on the road as anyone - £87-50p plus the fuel for the run...sounds like an expensive day out to me, when we do runs in my east Anglia area we often start at a public car park and end up at a pub and the landlord is always glad to see us often putting on a BBQ or such like at minimal cost as well. At Easter we did a run and ended up at the Park hill hotel in Lowestoft and they laid on a buffet with unlimmited tea and coffee for just £3 a head.
If I have anything to do with the organisation or the food, then it should be called the 'Tossed Salad'
And on a similar note I have just been asked to organise a 'Classic Car Picnic' in Buchan Country Park. Nr.Crawley/Horsham.
This is hoped to be a free ( or Peppercorn ) event, With entrants bringing a car and some grub. In return we supply a lovely country park and all the noddy's you could wish for to stop and tell you 'Cor Blimey, my old man had one of them...Etc'
There also be Coffee Locally made Dairy Ice-cream and few other edible goodies to purchase.
I got caught up in the middle of the commercial run while in my green Allegro estate, travelling down to Magnificent Motors in Eastbourne; I got just as many waves & pictures taken as any commercial I was passing, until I had to part ways from the main stream of vehicles. The missus & I enjoyed the extra attention being shown to our car, & I thought then it'd be nice to do a proper run if only one existed for vehicles of the appropriate age.
Can't say I'm interested in paying £87.50 + fuel, but fuel only and some chips from the pier? Count me in! Also if that Crawley/Horsham one takes off, I'm sure I can persuade some other ACI members to come along too, as a few live in that area.
Yep,I'm sure I could manage the 20 min drive to Crawley if needs be
Have you forgotten that once we were brought here we were robbed of our names, robbed of our language,we lost our religion, our culture, our God? And many of us by the way we act,we even lost our minds.
Don't just talk about it, get on and organise it. We (Milford Haven classic car club) have just organised our first charity run around South Pembrokeshire. It took a lot of hard work to organise but on Sunday we had over 100 cars booked in . We have raised several £k to be given equally to the Air ambulance and the local lifeboat. Hard work aside it was great to see so many people out in their cars really enjoying themselves. Cars came from all over South Wales to join in. Nearly everyone said on leaving that they would be with us next year. I have got photos of the cars that took part but I am useless with computers so can't share them with you. If anyone thinks that they can tell me over the phone send me an email with a land line telephone no and I will ring you.
