My 90's classic ephemera

This is my molly-coddled family bus, workhorse and motorway muncher! its a 1.8td lx so has electric windows and even power steering! it is very classic, as I have now finished mending mending (touch wood!) past 'repairs...' and niggling little faults (nearly, the heater only blows cold.... in November). it has had a recent top-end re-build and is a decent car to work on, is as modern as I will go! good decent mechanical stuff, not a computer with number-plates! these are darn rare now I think, and this one is in excellent, used and loved condition! now bought as I wanted a family transport that I would enjoy and these do drive and handle remarkably well. besides my grandfather had the hatchback when it was new, and i was newer more classics to add soon! (wife has a 94 civic... I wonder if she'd notice if it became an 80's something... hmmm)

Hednesford I should think, judging by the quantity that are wrecked there every year in grand style.
It's always good to see that I'm not the only one whose '90s motor is being preserved and used though, so well done for not buying a new car, though minor points deducted because the Mondeo Diesel has an ECU - albeit one that can be read with a DMM rather than a code reader - and a cat, so is marginally more complex than it needs to be at the age. Has the monolith on that one started to show signs of breaking up yet? Back in 2003, a colleague had one the same, right down to the colour, it was becoming less and less lively by the day and the general consensus was that the turbo was dying. Fortunately, we removed the cat before he shelled out for a turbo..

thanks buddy I know, they were everywhere and then gone almost overnight! scrappage scheme and not being too collectable (yet...) I guess took most, they dont even rust that bad... for an old ford there is a mk2 round the corner from me, it had the factory mismatched bumpers and tape

I think the track may have had a few... same as cortina's and sierra's in there day haha thanks buddy, i couldnt do too modern really newest car i had was from '97, it broke.... ahhh yes, the modern touches are v small though, i think it is probably one of the last old-school era cars some points held onto! its all been fine so far, it was down on power to the extent that 80mph was top whack, and no boost... so into the shed to discover blow turbo hose, and worn out accelorater cable... fixed and back and (touches wood repeatedly) no probs!

Rich, people were saying the same about RWD Escorts in the mid to late eighties, how we laughed, how wrong we were. Anything Blue Oval-badged stands a chance of opening the wallets of the speculators, the difference is that Mondeos are really quite good and dare I suggest; well worth hanging onto.

dont remind me, if i had kept instead of cutting up escorts and minis for parts etc i would be as wealthy as bill gates

the blue oval has produced some great cars, that lots of people don't notice in their time (like those escorts) then they just vanish! my mum had an anglia, dad had a mk2 fizzer.... besides older cars are the way forward anyway
