Any musicians here?
I have been told that I need to tune my guitars G string sharp by 25 cents because of enharmonics of guitars.
Has anybody heard of this.
I often use open G tuning. Since I was told about G I have been listening carefully and can't hear the problem.

I'm probably the laziest guitar player in the world and have one of those electric gadgets you clip to the guitar and turn the adjusters until the meter is centred :S
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Re: G SHARP
if you are just playing at home then the tuning isnt critical, its only essential when playing in a group or along to a backing track.
Loads of apps available online for tuning purposes.

Re: G SHARP
Not sure how to answer this in a clear manner.
I would never tune the G 25 cents sharp, more likely about 15 cents flat depending on the key I'm tuning to. And never on an open G. Guitars can never be tuned correctly in the way that say a piano can, so things tend to vary.

So when and where is the first public performance by the forum band? This I'd pay good money to hear.
This just in, some spy footage of the chaps' practice session:

I asked Michael Stipe where he was in the clip, he replied "That's me in the corner.."

Re: G SHARP
Flatlander.
Interesting you say 15 cents flat.
I tune by meter thingy. Normally to drop D. I like to boogie on a saturday night. I shall flatten my G 15cents and see how it sounds.
I have the odd jam with mates usually more larking about than actually playing. We aren't very good. We have murdered a few songs. We can't be that bad though, because the neighbours threw bricks though the window so they could hear us better. LD.

Re: G SHARP

During my student days, we had neighbours who did that to our flat. Sadly, they ran out of bricks so we never yet collected enough to replace the broken window with something less breakable.
