Goodwood Revial, period outfit?

#1 Post by 3xpendable »

I was about to book my Saturday tickets for the Revival today, but in 24hrs they've gone from 'limited' to 'sold out', GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

So, is Sunday just as good or?

Finally, as per the title. I would like to go in period costume for obvious reasons, but what era's are acceptable? I have a Gulf "Steve McQueen Le Mans" style jacket, but what else can go with this and be 'period'? I see a lot of people just wear a tweed looking suit, but fancy something a bit more 60's racer.

Ideas?

I came to this thread hoping that I'd have something fresh to bring to the discussion, but Rich and Bob have suggested much the same as I'd have gone for. ;)

OK, sixties racer you say? Shouldn't matter what you wear as long as you start a fight, preferably by insulting someone's woman or spitting in his beer..

If you go in a tutu and hob nail boots you will have the boys fighting over you for first go.

Now, I have these shoes as well

Would that with a turtleneck jeans work? If not I'll go the boiler suit route with logos!

Grumpy Northerner and myself are part of The Revival Transport Corps. Dressing up adds an extra dimension to the event.
Look at the Revival's gallery for inspiration.

Classic Pumas are - according to someone who knows far more than I about such things - "on trend" at the moment, in fact either of the Dassler Brothers' brands would be equally cool, so maybe a Puma on the left foot and an Adidas on the right?
You clearly have a feel for what will work and if the look you're hoping to achieve is "young petrolhead about town", then go with your hunch. Just make sure to splash on plenty of Old Spice or Brut and the laydeez - and the bears - won't be able to keep their hands off you. Grrrrr..

A vision of that routine from Mel Brooks' "The Producers" has just entered my head:

Cheers JPB, I'll be sure to insult some women, spit in a random blokes beer while smoking Marlboro's and enjoy the ensuing carnage!
