Chance would be a fine thing! :P

I was looking through some older forum threads today (damn these endless holidays with too little work to do even on days when we have to go in to put right what the students did last term..) and I found this:
road tax via fuel would be a lot simpler, as then you pay for what you use
Who said that eh? The answer is on this page, fourth post from the top.
(No clues, but that post's author appeared to be quoting me selectively. Imagine doing that to a fellow enthusiast. )

 ;)

It would be simpler but since we have road tax, as a separate tax, with exemptions for historics, I feel the exemption should be rolling. Let's face it, the Brownline was as logical as saying that nobody, married after 1972, could celebrate a silver wedding (Yes I know some would say who would want to :?:  ). Money aside, it does also distinguish between an historic vehicle and a banger.

As to what Rich said, in the short term, I am spending the money on chrome plating. During the out time (Tax expired in December), I have sent the front bumper (And over riders) for new chrome. There were two redundant holes in it, which I filled, prior to sending it away (Also tidied up the edges of the pressings). As I had heard whispers, that chrome maybe running into H&S problems, I thought it best to get it done. The back bumper was done a long time ago, when we did away with the little infill pieces, that go between the bumper and the body (And altered the number plate lights). The standard of the re chrome was rather better than BL chrome, so it will now all match :!:

took my log book .MOT and insurance to local post office. now tax exempt ..yippee as my :D v8 attracted high tax level and was off road for 6 months at a time ( not rich ) so maybe it can get out on road now and again.. not too far as it is a wee bit thirsty lol.

Well, whatever your politics (And I'm not about to start a debate on that :!: ), our rolling tax exemption is now safe :D :D :!:

Roll on 2020. I'll be fully retired by then so can stay full time in the land of cheap fuel, free scripts and the midnight sun!
Oh, and take a look at the manifesto associated with that party which won in England & Wales, I'd sooner pay the VED on cars over and above the first four and save on income tax ta very much, it's a far greater saving and even people who don't own any cars will benefit by it!
