Hello everybody

#1 Post by nickarp2000 »

Hello everyone,
I'm Nick and I live in a small village on the outskirts of Northampton.
Having been an avid reader of Practical Classics for a few years now, along with a host of other similar type publications (that remain nameless), I decided in my 50th year to finally treat myself and dive into the classic scene.
Always wanted a Morris 1000 when I was a teenager, never had one though.
Recently started to admire the curves and poise of the Austin range of cars from the early to mid 50's, particularly the A40 Somerset & Devon's, however it didn't matter how much I looked I never really could bring myself to buy one (something was stopping me obviously)
Then I found it, and I couldn't resist the 170 mile journey first thing on a Saturday morning to go and see her for the first time. Bought instantly and drove home without a hitch the following week, I am the proud owner of a 1958 MG ZB Varitone.
I hope you like her as much as I do. She is as original as she could be. Strong oil pressure, no leaks, good running temperature and a joy to drive.
Here she is

Thanks for looking
Nick

Hi Nick, and welcome to the forum.

I absolutely love those MGs (and the Wolseley etc. variants), many years ago I nearly got one for free, but it was a basket case and I had nowhere to put it.

Good to see one on the forum, I don't think anyone else has one, so keep us updated with how you get on eh?

Cheers :D
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

Thanks you
They are a little like hens teeth out there.
Even on the specialist forums it appears no-one likes to show them (they just seem to store them) unless it's sunny, dry at a minimum of 70 Celsius outside.
There are a couple of scuffs here and there and a few chips which need sorting.
I was looking into buying a small HVLP unit such as the Apollo Spraymate for the relatively small areas that need doing. Does anyone have experience with this 1000W all in one unit for Cellulose spraying?

What a nice car . . . . . . seeing that I was reminded of this one - a bit older with some nice external decoration :o

My mistake, you are indeed correct. A lovely piece of architectural engineering. Pails mine into the backseat really
