Well it has been a productive weekend but not on the car front, the green house is virtually finished, just need to make some staging and add electrics (waterproof socket plugged in garage behind)
Also fired up the log burner which removed all the paint, need to give it a lick of vht fit the door seals, glass and move it in the garage.

Finaly found a couple of hours to play with the minor today, I made and fitted a new a lower a post panel.
Also last week I picked this up
It is a mk2 mx5 hood frame, using this will allow us to fit a mk2 hood with the larger glass window.

seeing as I have just paid to insure it I used tr for the first time in a month or so, no more exhaust leaks after re fitting the downpipes so it sounds much better, oil pressure light came on and stayed on on the way home fortunatelly it has a gauge which was reading fine so it looks like a faulty switch or wiring, othewise it drove perfectly, something to add to the list for over the winter.

Pulled the wire off the oil pressure switch and the light goes out so it seems the switch is at fault, the annoying thing is this was one of the few new parts I fitted 5 years ago with the engine, it has only done around 10,000 miles, the curse of repro parts I suppose.
Also spent some time cleaning the minor floors yesterday ready to paint them, they seem to be covered with some tar like material, most of it came off with a blow lamp, just need to go over it with some thinners to take the remains off then the floors can be painted.

I cleaned up one of the Landy's old floor panels the other week - plenty of heat got the worst off, nothing shifted the residue! I was fortunate though - the metal was used in hidden places (the seatbox mainly), so it didn't matter too much.

Does it burn well? where I have been welding on the RR if I miss a bit of tarry under seal within 4" or so of wherever I am adding steel it ignites making an awful smell.

This seems to be just tar I though about leaving it but it is a good job i didnt becsuse there were patches of corrodion under it.
i will find out how easily it comes off tomorrow!

The floor cleaned up well and has now been painted, but a more serious issue arose tonight, driving the landrover home the brakes completely failed, fortunatelly pumping the pedal restored some brakes and I got home ok, no fluid loss and clamping each of the circuits off had no effect whatsoever so I have therefore concluded the master cylinder is at fault, its the newest part in the system, at approx 18 months old and was supposed to be oem quality, I do worry one day someone is going to die with these crap modern pattern parts. I have ordered a trw part from a reputable supplier, hopefully this will last longer.

I suffered exactly the same fate several years ago with a P6 Rover - the master cylinder was stamped Lucas and came from a reptable supplier - It had been fitted to the car 18 months earlier and dispite my complaint to the supplier that the said part had covered less than 100 miles in operation - I got politly told where to goI have therefore concluded the master cylinder is at fault, its the newest part in the system, at approx 18 months old and was supposed to be oem quality, I do worry one day someone is going to die with these crap modern pattern parts

Completely with you on that one! The only time when it's acceptable to say "Hi M8" is when you're circling Edinburgh and you turn off the A720 onto a bigger road that takes you in the direction of Glasgow.
