 Ooh! Sharp GF-8989E at 4:02. 8-) This is going up on boomboxery.com, TVM for that!

Just the one slight flaw with the illustrations though :ugeek: , that telephone wouldn't have had a 431A plug, if it had been equipped with a plug at all, it would have been a plan 4 type, like this one:

But most likely, it would be hard wired into the incoming end of the cable from the local telegraph pole. These were the days when the only broadband you'd have owned - or as was more usual, rented along with the rest of the outfit - was a cummerbund and Tux was what we called a particular type of suit, not the now familiar penguin icon.

Wow! Who'd have thought it. I never realised that the famous Antarctic-dwelling bird - recognised across the globe by people whose computers work properly and don't take hours to do stuff - is a forum member!

:D

Not entirely correct. That type of plug was only permitted on extensions, there always had to be one phone hardwired in, you couldn't have an unterminated line. However, when the new type plug was introduced some phones were modified as shown in the illustration, with the new plug fitted and the bell capacitor removed.
