MGB wipers

#1 Post by ate1980 »

Hi,

My wipers park vertically blocking my view, rather than horizontally. What could be causing this ? they definately "park" as where ever i switch them off they always end up in this position.

Thanks

Someone has put the arms on in the wrong position. "park" the wipers then spin off the nuts that hold the arms in place, put them at the bottom of the screen and do up the nuts again. :)
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

No nuts on the wiper spindles, Terry. They're splined, like Minor ones....
One slight flaw with that suggestion is that, if the wipers were both fitted in the wrong position, they'd sweep off the end of the screen by the same amount as that from their park position to where they park, and they'd stop short in their sweep the other way.

This is more likely to be an issue around the position of the self parking cam on the gearbox, relative to the position of the pin that connects the gear to the rod that drives the rack back and forth.

"Home is where you park it", so the saying goes. That may yet come true..
