Air Filter Housing

Having put a new carb set-up on the Singer, I now need a decent filter/housing.
The previous filter wont fit the new carb plus the elements are not available. It would also be a shame to chop and ruin the old filter housing.
So, the challenge is to find a metal filter housing that can adapt to fit and that takes readily available filter elements..
Initial thoughts are a housing from an early classic mini, only downside is getting the air intake to the cooler side of the car?

Any thoughts?

For the sake of running around, I would get a K&N pancake or cone. Which carb is it you have? it must have been fitted to more than one model of car so you should have some options available :)
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Carb is a Solex B32 PA1A,
Reason for looking at metal housings is to give a more classic look. As an alternative, I may call in at K&N (warrington) and see what chrome filters they do. Can always get it powder coated black so its less blingy?

I will admit to recently having removed a K&N cone from my mog in favour of a factory air box because the induction noise was driving me mad (great when you are 17 but not when you are 30). A K&N does look pretty and there are some very pretty looking ones if you have a look at the options available for your solex.
There is nothing stopping you from sanding the cover down and painting it black.

IIRC, my Minx had a "pipe" fitting between carb and filter, not a flange like your carb has. But the filter was similar to a Cortina one, so perhaps it would be worth looking for a Ford filter from the same era. I seem to think things like the Moggy and Oxbridge had a deeper filter of smaller diameter - they might foul the bonnet. I suspect you could make a plate to modify the fitting of a Ford (or Minx) one to fit your carb - in much the same way as you altered the pancake one.
