Custom made outdoor cover
Custom made outdoor cover
I'm having difficulties getting a cover for my restored 1985 Ford Transit 100.
I want something good enough for use throughout the year that can be secured well enough for the bad weather. Every company I've tried has declined except Classic Additions who said they could send someone out to measure up prior to making. However that was in October last year and despite lots of conversations and emails nothing is progressing.
Can anyone offer any help here with recommendations?
Thanks.

Re: Custom made outdoor cover
Have you investigated Caravan Covers? Many Caravans are left in outdoor storage areas in all weathers and so there are a number of different covers available - just need to find one that's the right size . . .

Thanks for the input Mike. I hadn't considered that.

Re: Custom made outdoor cover
Mike's inspired suggestion certainly gets my vote! If you ignore the sticky out bit that is the A frame, the body of - for example - a Sprite Musketeer is probably not a million miles away from the dimensions of the Transit.
Rich will probably be along soon to ask for photos of the Transit, can I second this request before he's even made it?

I'd be happy to and there's quite a few on my Photobucket account, but I'm in work on night shift and Photobucket is blocked.JPB wrote: Rich will probably be along soon to ask for photos of the Transit, can I second this request before he's even made it?![]()

Re: Custom made outdoor cover
Try PRO-TEC covers , tel 01274780088. I had a cover from them for my tourer van. They have patterns for most caravans and motorhomes but it is quite easy to measure it yourself. Only thing that could make it a little awkward is if you have roof ariels and heater vents in the roof. Not the cheapest but much better quality than others you can buy. I don't know how much room you have but Gala tents make marquees that you could possibly get your van into with room to work around it. Would need to be firmly anchored down.

Love the front splitter.
My dad used to ferry my brothers, sister and myself about in a MK2 transit crewbus (1.6 low compression). I have lots of happy memories of that model transit
