Can anyone identify these hub caps

I so cant compete with the superior knowledge and memories here! But I would guess and only guess at a slightly older Austin - like an A40 Devon or Somerset, although I suspect that they might have an "A" stamped in to them. I shall have a peep next week when I am next at the Haynes museum. Sadly the only MGC to see there has wires on it, so I cant answer that one.

Note the depression in the centre and the complete flying A experience with the Red Bull touch.

A Somerset while we're at it:




Same idea as the Devon one methinks. 16" wheels on both of those so their trim must be no larger - possibly smaller - when compared with the one from the 14" wheel on that A60 van. Why's that then?

I think the Devons and Somersets had a more convex hub cap as well as an "A" (or even "Austin" in the centre on the Devon). It's a while since I overtook either of them and I was too busy looking at the rest of the cars to notice the hubcaps! I have a fondness for the Somersets - I suspect it was mainly because my grandmother had one when I was young - she sold it for a new Standard eight that she hated (and then bought Hillman and Sunbeams for about ten years).

I had a sniff around the few Brit exibits @ Haynes yesterday, although admittedly I forgot my ruler. Quite right - I saw no Austin hub caps like the photo - but a 1954 Hillman Minx (a bobby basic sidevalve one) has hubcaps that looked - to me at least - just like these.

Some of the cars I have owned have been , A35, AUstin 1100 and riley kestrel version, jaguar MkIO, MG Magnettes za+zb, Wolseley 1550, rover 3.5 coupe and tc,Vivas, magnums, victor fb's but as far as I can remember all these had some logo on the center of the cap

So chances are that the A60 van is a match then? No stamp on its nave plates and the size would seem about right. There's a solution: Go and buy yourself a van like that one and then you can compare.
