Safest way to remove stickers from glass

Well, I am now incredibly irritated.
Getting the stickers off wasn't all that hard thanks to the hairdryer suggestion. It stopped the sticker I was picking at from flaking and it peeled off nicely, celly thinners got off all the marks left behind I even cut back the paint on the frame so it looked like new. Working inside is so comfortable, I just need to work out how to get the whole car in to the kitchen.
Why am I irritated.......
I took the tailgate outside to put it in the garage before the other half came home to kill me, I got round the corner of the house and the end of it gets caught by the wind, blown against the wall and I now have 1,000,000 very small but sticker free tailgate windows.
That was 3 hours of driving and £100 down the toilet. Wind is a major pain! and a note to everyone else, when you are carrying something made of glass, don't tuck it under one arm when it is very windy.
On the plus side I now have a spare handle with a key to put on ebay :S

Terry from what I remember of my parents old range rovers the tail gate metal frame
was one of the first thing to go. So do you search for a scrapyard with a good glass
and rotten frame or buy another glass elsewhere. Alternative is sell the hole frame on
the bay of E!

Hi Terry - pleased to see that the idea actually worked - never tried it myself but have read about it elsewhere - but then to read about your misfortune with the wind and the million bits of glass is such a dissappointment - so sorry to hear that

There was more swearing and substantially more sweeping than I indicated.
What is really irritating is I don't really care about the frame, my RR has an aluminium tailgate fitted now but the glass is badly scratched so if the frame was broken, I could have swapped the glass. Now I have 2 good frames and no glass to put in either.
gggggggrrrrrrrrr. I have found someone with a rotten frame they want £20 for which has good glass, the central locking gubbins and (ANOTHER) handle which I am going to get next week so that will be fun cutting a rotten frame apart (hopefully not breaking it in the process) Then having a ebay listathon to get rid of my extra spare handles and hinges.

I neatly avoided being killed by having it all cleaned up 15 minutes before SWMBO got home. glass in the bin, frame hidden behind a row of doors so i don't see it every time i go in to the garage and swear at it.

That was last week, I'm over it now. Out of frustration I just ordered a brand new one, the killer is that the new one arrived damaged so I am now having to wait for that to be replaced.
This week's problem which I am tempted to fix with a call to the scrap man is a (suspected) blown head gasket on the awkward side.
