Hello all,
I thought that you might like to see exactly what my new 'Classic Friendly' network is all about.
We should be on the go by late February, but out holding page is up already (http://www.classicfriendly.co.uk) if you'd like to point any interested parties in our direction.
Cheers,
Fuzzer
CLASSIC FRIENDLY MISSION STATEMENT
The aim of Classic Friendly Ltd is to provide users of classic cars across the UK with an easily sourced network of good quality garage and service facilities, alongside sundry other factors.
The company was founded by TV’s ‘Car SOS’ presenter and former Practical Classics magazine Technical Editor, Fuzz Townshend and FBHVC-approved service facility owner, Lee Reynolds. Between the pair of them, they have more than 50 years of experience in the motor trade, with long histories in classic repairs and ownership.
Between them, they have built the Classic Friendly business and devised the vehicle inspections with a view to assisting motorists to maintain their cars at an optimum service condition and thus comply with the law.
This is especially important with regards to pre-1960 cars and motorcycles in use on today’s roads, as these are no longer required to undertake an annual MoT test, yet there were over 200,000 such vehicles tested in the year 2012.
If Classic Friendly garages manage only to attract 10% of these vehicles to the inspection facilities then that will still be a huge amount of regular workshop traffic throughout the network.
Each vehicle inspected receives a uniquely numbered certificate, displaying the basic overall results of the inspection. Inspectors log the results utilising the easy to use software which comes with the Classic Friendly start-up pack.
These results will be available to the inspection facility, the vehicle keeper and to anyone invited to view by the vehicle keeper, such as insurers, etc.
Fringe benefits to service providers will be greatly increased market visibility not only to users of pre-1960 cars, but also to owners of the many hundreds of thousands of later classics, through presence on the Classic Friendly website and use of the immediately recognisable external signage provided.
In addition to pre-1960 vehicle safety inspections, Classic Friendly also offers buyer’s and seller’s inspections, which includes coolant and brake fluid testing, paint thickness and condition reports and inspection of upholstery, chrome and badging, etc.
In order to maintain standards of service and to ensure that the Classic Friendly name remains synonymous with decent, helpful and friendly good quality service, members are required to undertake to achieve the following:
Maintain a tidy and orderly workshop, as first impressions count.
Wherever possible, provide a waiting area for customers, preferably with tea and coffee offered.
Provide a clean and tidy customer toilet.
Use seat covers and paint protectors when working on vehicles.
Upload inspection results immediately following each such inspection.
Fuzz and Lee hope that becoming part of the Classic Friendly network can help you to achieve a major enhancement to your business’ work traffic and develop a larger and long-lasting customer base.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this. We look forward to hearing from you.
