New workshop

So after 20 years of being stuck in London and squirelling the classics away in the barn at work when I can, other projects are stored in a barn of one of the directors at his home address with all the bits to another spread around a freinds workshop which I share, whilst a couple of the roadgoing cars are in lockups on the outskirts of the city. So time to consoldite the storage then - we sold up in London at start of May, found a place that ticked the boxes but it has taken until now to resolve (we nearly walked away from it on several occasions) but it's now sorted and we moved in between yesterday & today - its meant a 60 mile relocation to the west - but well worth it

Its all a little half done - the floor needs screeding and painting - the walls are half painted and need finishing - the ceiling is part cladded but not finished - the electrics are installed by Heath Robinson, the loft is part boarded and uninsulated - there is both a water & gas supply but they are just blanked off and unconnected to anything. So a fair list to go at along with some outside lighting - I will also be fitting a toilet under the stairs and have a sink / counter top set up for the tea (saves me from having to deboot / take the overalls off to go into the house.

It comes with a house? Pure decadence but then I guess Mrs Northerner must have somewhere to live as well.

We are looking forward to putting our own stamp on the place and will refit the kitchen & bathrooms along with redecoration, I am also considering erecting a oak framed car barn to the side of the garage which will provide covered vehicle storage and still leave parking for the modern cars that we run. After a day of getting everything down the 3 flights of stairs and into the trailer we turned up at the new place only to find that the chapel had mice

Whilst I haven't looked to move, in the 22 years that I have been in my house, when you go through places, you sometimes see houses and think "That looks OK" etc. However, just as when I bought mine, to qualify as "OK", it needs a nice garage or at least a flat plot large enough for one.....with a bit left for the garden.

Yours looks a nice job and since you've apparently not gone for a trussed roof, it's given you the full attic space . It looks longer in the attic, than on the ground floor. Is the ground floor split (Looks like there may be a cupboard or toilet but looks more than that difference in the photo) or is it just the camera

Trouble is, you always end up filling what you have and you become short of space . At least if you ever get stuck with a job, devine assistance shouldn't be a problem. In my neck of the woods, non conformist chapels were a very common site but most of them are now demolished or turned into other things. Sometimes the chapels have downsized; there is one where the old building is a b&b house and the chapel is now in what was (If I remember correctly) a small Co op shop, on the other side of the road. It must be a hell of a lot of work converting chapels or churches, as there was never a full upstairs and they always have lots of windows.

- Im afraid I will have to keep the Grumpy front up otherwise the servent (wife) will take advantage of me - I am still trying hard not to be smug about baging this place and hopefully it keeps her happy whilst I play with the cars

It does make the playing with cars front easier if they're happy and have nowt to whinge about!
