LOTUS MK1 CORTINA RESTORATION
Re: LOTUS MK1 CORTINA RESTORATION
Some bits look like they were using a 12 bore to blast it
That doesn't look all that bad, if anybody is going to be able to get it to better than new, it's you!
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

To be honest that shell doesn't look too bad, Yes there is evidence of the usual 70's cover repairs, (and the inevetable strut top)and filler jobs, but not that many, and most appear to have been done with a bit of care and attention.TerryG wrote:Some bits look like they were using a 12 bore to blast itThat doesn't look all that bad, if anybody is going to be able to get it to better than new, it's you!
I think a case of going around in order and stitching in a bit of fresh metal, and you'll have something certainly as solid as when it left Dagenham.
Follow that up with modern paint and seam sealer, and the only reason you'll have to do that again in the next 50 odd years is due to boredom or accident damage.
I suspect boredom may get the better of our Mr Foose.....
Landrovers and Welding go together like Bread and Butter. And in the wet they are about as structurally sound
Biting. It's like kissing except there's a winner

It looks like you have been very busy. Progress looks good, lots of new shiny steel
Are you making all the repair panels yourself or are they available from a handy supplier?
