The plane that saved Britain channel 4

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

And me, have posted on other forums about it, no technical detail, very disjointed, aimed at the lowest possible denominator... A chimp?!

I enjoyed the show, I found Arthur's enthusiasm for the plane totally infectious.

Did feel the bit where the former airman was reading the script from the Victor comic a little demeaning, he didn't look as though he was enjoying reading it either.

Missed the first 15 minutes - did they mention at all about the assembly work at Canley (Standard Works) at all?

But yes, an enjoyable show I thought.

They mentioned the construction techniques... Briefly.

I missed the programme but I expect it was made for TV to space the adverts 11 minutes apart. When you see who has made some of these programmes for TV you get a rough idea what to expect!

Hi

I have an old video about the Mossie, it goes in to great detail about the technical specs of the plane, the extensive use of balsa wood and the wing loading etc..

It also goes in to detail about armaments on the plane and showed WW2 footage of them strafing enemy warships using rockets, machine guns and even a five pounder gun 8-)

I'll have to get one of those machines that copy video to DVD as i've loads of other old videos about warplanes/ships etc!!

Cheers, John :P
