That looks completely fixable. Personally I would go for a new o/s rear wing as that looks creased but if you want to drive it around for a while you can probably force fit a replacement rear lamp unit in with a bit of brute force bending the wing out. I would spray something over the bare tin just to make sure it doesn't rust out in case you decide to repair rather than replace.
I'm sure others with more experience with a BGT will be able to offer more appropriate advice but you could try to reduce the size of the dent with a length of wood through the hole where the rear light goes and see how far you can bend it back, grind off the paint and fill it then rattle can over until you can afford a permanent fix.

I must admit after a weekend of feeling sorry for myself I have come out of it with a more chipper attitude - and a flipping cold as well
I love the MG and wouldnt really want it to go so I think!!! Im going to keep her - tidy for now with a bit of bending and maybe try that hair dryer technique thing - or brute force for now though eventually Ill be getting a front and rear wing.
One of the first things though is new tyres as I should have changed the old ones ages ago its my own fault, any recommends for the MGB's ?
Im not going to go too wild just yet on her as I need to get the Daimler its MOT sorted and a new caliper on the front but It would be a bit sacreligious to let her go just for this minor niggle, especially when she is the most fun of them all.
A couple of friends have showed an interest and if I knew that they would look after her and get her back on the road and driven then I could be tempted to sell but I am no longer seeking out that route.
Worse than bloody smoking these MG's are !!!

Re: Gutted :( - MY MG got punched in a fight !
All good advice above but what I'm struggling with is that the rear damage isn't your fault, therefore the person who did it should be held liable - what's the story there? OK, I know it was your stepfather, but can he not pay for the repair, or if not I presume he was insured?
Sounds like you're allowing someone else's incompetence become your problem, that's all.
Or am I missing something here?
All the best!
Cheers

What happened Luxobarge was ...
I parked my MGB on the road opposite my mum and dads and my stepdad reversed into it, about two days later I was in a spin on the dual carriageway and broke my car myself as well a bit
really unlucky week. I have driven the same stretch of road many times before in the same fashion without any trouble but after a week of sweltering heat followed by a downpour then heat again I think the road was just greasier than normal.
The work required is minimal but a chap has had a look at her and is interested in buying her - I only want £300 to slap on my daimlers caliper costs so would let her go for that.
I will miss the MG but I do need to give some love to the Daimler as it has been sat for four months now and needs to come out in the sun plus I have been focused soley on the MG since I have had it and the Daimler has been festering a bit poor thing.
I'll easily get £300 for the MG - especially as it has a pile of MOT (something like April 2014) and Taxed till end of Aug.
I reckon that its not the end of me and MG though as I love them

Re: Gutted :( - MY MG got punched in a fight !
Yes, I understand all that, and understand that the damage you caused by the spin is tough luck and probably not reclaimable. But the damage caused by your stepdad is NOT your fault, and as I'm sure he has insurance why can you not claim on it - at least for that part of the damage? Or as he's "family" so to speak, can he not cough up? Why should him hitting your car become your problem?

Hi
I can recall a friend of my brothers (Both are in the bodywork trade) using a machine that welded nails onto dented areas in strategic parts, they then had a slide hammer that gripped the nails for pulling out the dents!
Once the dent was out enough the nails were ground off and the area was filled
Very effective bit of kit that was
