is it this simple?

#1 Post by Diesel Fionn »

Putting a new roof on my wife's 1991 Eunos Roadster. The instructions were very good, except they missed a couple of rivets that needed to be drilled out. I got the roof off in three hours. very chuffed with myself. :D Then i put black hammerite on the various bits and bobs that needed derusting, which to be fair to a 22 year old car in Ireland were only light scabbing. I wouldn't mind but the only reason we were forced to fit a new one was because the zip on the window gave up. the window was only redone a few years ago as it was cracked from oiks putting the hood down without unzipping it. To be fair I'm glad I took it off as both drain holes were blocked! Well the roof itself was shrinking and had couple of small tears. I reckon it was the original anyway. €221 delivered from the UK to ireland and the correct tan colour too. Great value on ebay.

HI Rich I didn't take pictures during removal, and I should have I guess. HOwever I only had minimal issues during reassembly. I did forget to replace one screw but the bracket it goes into is secured by another nut so it's ok. I can't put the roof down for a fortnight anyway as it has to stretch. It took us half an hour to get the roof closed. We had to use a ratchet strap around the front wheels and the back of the roof. its not tight against the windscreen surround as I had to loosen the catches to the lowest setting.
