rover p6 v8 auto 1974

#1 Post by classicalgreen »

tried swapping to electronic ignition.. long story but now fitted new points and condensor. didn't note wiring connections to coil.. according to wiring diagrams in workshop manuals 2 yellow and white to positive ( start er etc) and one black and white to negative terminal-- i have three black and white cables- two fixed to each other by manufacturer.. think a connection spade? end broken off terminal on coil as only room for one.
anybody have ideas if all 3 go to negative terminal? or why I have two black and white wires ( one is a double) when handbook/manual says only one!
any diagrams. explanations or even pics if you have same set up - I would be most grateful. :?
update : left single black and white wire in air.. now starts and runs..albeit not brilliantly but may be fuel/carb/timing.old leads
added issues .still misfiring . poor running when cold. new alternator fitted. new leads. cap and rotor on way. considering electric fuel pump. just leaves carbs ..as any real issues.

Have a look over on the Classic Rover Forum. Search for "electronic ignition". Loads of posts on the subject.
