Recreating door rubbers

I'm in the process of restoring an old van. An issue I have is that the original door rubbers are way past their best and can't be purchased new. I can probably buy similar material but the originals have 90 degree angles on them which will be difficult to replicate unless I cut at 45 degrees and join them together. If anyone has done this in the past what have they used to ensure the join remains in place and waterproof?

I have done that with the rear door seals on my Range Rover LSE as they are not available. I cut the wire that runs through it and it doesn't appear to have caused a problem in 2 years. I cut 45deg across the seal with a dremmel and used the vulcanising solution from a bicycle puncture repair kit to seal and superglue on the trim.

Have you looked at Baines stuff . Used to be a really old school place ..like Morgans ..Oak panelled walls..dead quiet..please ring the bell..10 minutes later someone would address you as "Yes Sir ? " and.. cheap as chips !!! Moved now though, gone bit more modern ! Worth a phone call even if its not listed.

/\/\/\ WHS! Baines supply the likes of Woolies and Fisters with their seals and trim clips so naturally, they're a little cheaper than these in most cases. I've yet to find a window rubber or door seal that they couldn't match.
When I last got the rear quarter seals for a kitten estate from them, they came with mitres already made (closed and ready to fit) and were a perfect fit in spite of their having put only a very small batch on for us.

I'd never heard of Baines so gave them a call. I can't be sure but I think the chap's name was Graham. Anyway, they may well have been able to help but I think maybe I must have caught him at a bad time as he seemed disinterested. Simple yes/no answers and I had to probe for more information rather than him try to help me. After some long pauses he did say I could send him my seals.

So... I've opted for East Kent Trim who I'd rang prior. I spoke with Wendy who immediately said there was nothing on file but to send samples in which they'll cross-reference stock with to see if they can come up with something. The more eager approach to customer services made it the obvious choice for me this time, though it was still worth trying Baines in case they had a match on file.
