Help ! What's the car?

#1 Post by zipgun »

Reet...Looking at this lathe on E bog, and pic 2 shows a red car / van? I saw the door hinge, and thought "Ooh,a Mini " , but it isn't.. Reliant? Kit?
Someone here will say its a "da da da da da"... and i'll say "Oh yeah.. of course it is " and feel a nit. Anyway ,i need to know...like ya do !
What is it? Wheel, looks Viva, Imp ,late Mini , but not the cap ?
The lathe is a steal though !

I think the external hinge is something else as in pic 4 it shows it has a central aerial on the roof and those modern bars for a roof rack to attach to.
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Ah but there's also a second red car in pic 4 (just on the RH side) - I'd suggest that this may be the one shown in pic 2 as it's near the tailstock tather than behind the lathe.

Can't help with the model though - it looks like a Reliant to me!

Pic 4 car isn't the same one, thats head on , behind the chuck . You can just see the bumper of the mystery car , tailstock end , extreme right of the 4th pic..It's driving me nuts now!
Don't think its a Mini marcos... or a GTM( or whatever the mini marcos turned into) . Looks a big plastic bumper , very low door handle ,but 60's 70's wheels ?

As the seller of the lathe eBay handle implies, it's a Fox, but from that view I couldn't say whether it's a regular one of these:

the Tandy-built camper version:

Or the Greek original, by Mebea:

Same under the skin as the wee brown car on the left of this post, in my avatar image but with a Galvanised chassis as standard and stronger front suspension drag links, blah blah blah..... :D

Useless Fox fact: The windscreen is a Fiat 127 one. :ugeek:
