Rover 200 Coupe

#1 Post by Bollotti »

Hi

I am going to look at a couple of Rover Coupes this week. One is a 216 the other a 218 VVC.

Which is the better engine (reliability wise), as searching the internet has only managed to confuse me?

They look like very good value for money.

If both K series they can both bite you in the arse if there not looked after.

The cooling system on the K series has been known to be a weak spot if not properly maintained.

If head gasket has been done, then check to see if it's the later Klinger gasket, as it is much improved.

keep an eye on lower rust area's such as arch's and sills.

If the 1.6 is the Honda lump, then there pretty bullet proof but again good servicing history is key.

They are
1998 models, which I assume is K series?

What year was the Honda engine fitted and to what models?

Thanks for the link, good site.

As they are both 98's then it's likely they are both K series.

As far as i am aware, they were all K series after 97.

The bubble shaped 200/400 which became the 25/45 arrived in 96, but the Coupe was kept on for a while longer and I know there are some late 96/7 registered coupe's with the Honda lump.

other than that, best askt eh Bods on the 200 club site.
