Are you sure that you did and it wasn't that your music was up too loud to hear the first few impacts?
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

when im travelling in my van its either radio 4 longwave or a monty python tape... although the night in question i didnt have the radio on... honest!!
